Caritas dettaglio
The Concept
Caritas, as part of the Catholic Church, has the mission to serve the poorest and promote justice in the world. For this reason it supports social development, acts on the causes of poverty and violence, and is involved in raising awareness, offering concrete solutions to humanitarian crises.
Starting from these fundamental principles, Caritas decided to participate in Expo Milano 2015, in order to highlight the inequalities that exist in the world precisely on such a critical topic as food, which is at the heart of the event, and to propose ways of living that put the person at the center, creating solidarity towards others and fighting the culture of waste.
Among the events of international relevance that will be organized within the Expo Milano 2015 Site, Caritas brings the global campaign "One Human Family, Food for All". Inaugurated by Pope Francis on 10 December 2013, the campaign aims to promote the recognition of the right to food as an inalienable human right around the world, encouraging individual change and raising public awareness on the issue of food security. The Caritas campaign will be brought to a close in May 2015 at the Expo Milano 2015 Site with an event that will be attended by representatives of 200 countries from around the world. The occasion will open up a vast program of meetings and initiatives throughout the six-month exhibition covering political, social and food-related economics, the forgotten conflicts, migration, and poverty in Italy and in Europe.
