The explicit commitment undertaken by Expo Milano 2015 since the early phases of its candidacy, has been to produce a great event, focusing on respect for the environment, local communities and where they live.

Sustainability is a central pillar of this commitment, an overarching, universal value that permeates all aspects of the Expo starting with the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life", projected into a sustainable future for the planet and society as a whole.

In particular, the environmental commitment of Expo 2015 SpA takes form in the implementation of criteria of sustainability applied to all aspects and the entire lifecycle of the event, in order to prevent, mitigate or compensate any possible negative impact on the environment or on local communities.

This section presents the guidelines, core values, and projects defined and developed by Expo 2015 SpA to transform the Exposition into a new way of imagining, planning and managing a major international event and leverage its potentials for communication with and engagement of countries, international organizations, partners, suppliers, research and educational institutes, civil society and visitors.
